Director of Mission Operations

📋 Description

• Take ownership of mission operations; assess readiness, tooling, staffing, risk.
• Clarify responsibilities among mission ops, flight software, systems, and programs.
• Define scalable mission ops for multiple spacecraft and mixed modes.
• Establish anomaly detection, escalation, and resolution workflows across software and ground systems.
• Evaluate software-driven vs human-in-the-loop ops; propose automation priorities.
• Lead readiness reviews; standardize mission procedures, documentation, and reporting.
• Build staffing and on-call model aligned to mission cadence and risk.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years in spacecraft mission operations, preferably multi-mission.
• Experience operating multiple spacecraft/constellations in real-time.
• Strong systems thinker; understands spacecraft, ground systems, and software.
• Ops-dev mindset; comfortable at the operations-software intersection.
• Bias toward clarity, ownership, and disciplined execution.
• Builder mentality; eager to create processes, teams, and tooling.
• Experience leading mission ops teams across engineering and software.
