Director of Engineering

📋 Description

• Act as player-coach, balancing hands-on technical contribution and people leadership.
• Lead, mentor, and grow managers, fostering a culture of high-performance and empathy.
• Work with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver a robust platform.
• Define, own, and ensure timely delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
• Clarify architecture and product decisions across teams (full-stack Python/Django, React).
• Manage team processes and align with non-technical stakeholders, including Operations.
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives and drive executive-level conversations.

🎯 Requirements

• 8-10+ years in software engineering, with 4+ years in management.
• Technical depth to own end-to-end systems, including architecture, design, and data modeling.
• Proven as a player-coach with hands-on technical proficiency.
• Experience leading a team that delivered a strong, well-founded product.
• Organizational leadership; experience collaborating with non-technical stakeholders and weighing tradeoffs.
• Track record of fostering a healthy, challenging work environment.
