• Efficiently evaluating all contract documents including specifications, drawings, general conditions and special provisions
• Determine quantities and types of members required to complete the project scope
• Determine which shop operations will be required for each project, and the total time for each, in the most efficient manner possible
• Determine practical and efficient installation schemes and the labor force and equipment required to complete them
• Note and reference any areas of the bid documents that require additional information and if allowances or exclusions have been made
• Post bid negotiations with client and business development staff to determine final scope of work and assign values to specific items within the proposal that may be revised or removed
• Post bid “value engineering” to assist in negotiations of final contract
• Post contract requests for changes based on required changes to the work

• Are passionate about Structural Steel
• Have a minimum of 10 years estimating experience in structural steel for large commercial projects and miscellaneous metals fabrication and installation
• Are proficient in Tekla, Microsoft Office, preparation of construction estimates, project RFP & specification review and writing of steel installation bid proposals through the use of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, MS Project), Fabsuite, Tekla BIMsight, Bluebeam & other AEC industry standard software platforms
• Have superb communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrable ability to take initiative and build strong, productive relationships
• Have attention to detail and are committed to quality
• Love working with people, and they love working with you
• Develop and manage positive working relationships with contractors
• Are a doer - you find opportunities to help customers and you take them
• Have a track record of trying and learning new things
