Job summary
We are seeking a Corporate Counsel, Labor and Employment to join our Legal Department. This role will provide comprehensive employment law advice and support across DigiCert’s global operations, helping ensure compliance with applicable labor and employment laws while supporting business objectives and company culture. This position reports to the Chief Legal Officer.
What you will do
- Advise the company on all aspects of labor and employment law, including hiring, terminations, employee relations, accommodations, leaves, wage and hour, and compliance with federal, state, and international employment laws.
- Partner with HR/People team to develop, implement, and maintain global employment policies, handbooks, and procedures that align with company culture and applicable legal requirements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, including employment contracts, confidentiality agreements, restrictive covenants, separation agreements, and contractor agreements.
- Provide legal guidance on recruitment, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee mobility, and immigration matters.
- Advise on investigations, discipline, and employee grievance matters, and manage employment litigation and agency charges (EEOC, DOL, state agencies) with outside counsel.
- Assist with personnel policy management and oversee updates to employment documentation across global jurisdictions.
- Provide legal support for reorganizations, reductions in force, and related strategic HR initiatives.
- Partner with HR and management on training programs related to employment compliance, workplace conduct, and legal risk mitigation.
- Work collaboratively with business leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver practical, business-oriented legal advice.
- Monitor changes in employment law and ensure company policies and practices are updated accordingly.
- Support compliance with global employment and labor standards and coordinate with local counsel as needed.
What you will have
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 3 years (preferably 5+) of experience practicing labor and employment law, either in a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Experience advising employers on employment compliance, litigation management, and policy development.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state employment laws.
- Excellent legal drafting, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to deliver clear, pragmatic, and business-focused legal advice.
- Experience partnering with HR teams in areas including talent acquisition, immigration, total rewards, employee relations, and internal communications.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Sound judgment and ability to balance legal risk with business needs.
Nice to have
- Experience practicing in a mid – large law firm.
- Familiarity with global employment law frameworks.
- Prior experience working with technology or global companies.
- Knowledge of employment laws in EMEA or APAC jurisdictions.
