Manager I, Engineering - Core Analytics - Datasets & Governance

Job Overview

Datadog is hiring a Manager I, Engineering for Core Analytics - Datasets & Governance in Paris, France. This is a full-time, on-site leadership position within the Engineering organization. You will lead a team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining core analytics datasets and governance frameworks used across product and platform analytics.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers focused on core analytics datasets and data governance.
• Design and implement scalable data pipelines, storage solutions, and data models to support product analytics and business insights.
• Define and enforce data governance, data quality, metadata management, security, and privacy standards.
• Collaborate with Product, Platform, Security, and Compliance teams to align roadmaps and ensure data reliability.
• Hire, coach, and develop engineers; conduct performance reviews; support career growth.
• Set technical direction, review architecture and code, and ensure operational reliability and on-call readiness.
• Partner with Data Science and Analytics teams to provide accessible, well-governed data assets.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend data engineering or data platform experience; 2+ years in a people leadership role.
• Strong SQL, data modeling, ETL/ELT, and experience with data warehouses/data lakes.
• Experience implementing data governance, data quality, cataloging, and metadata management.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and one or more programming languages (Python, Java, Scala, or equivalent).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
