Datadog is seeking a highly capable engineering leader to guide the AI Platform team in Paris, France. This Manager I role focuses on the evaluation and annotation workflows that enable high-quality data labeling and model feedback for Datadog's AI initiatives. You will lead backend engineers, define technical direction, and collaborate with product, data science, and platform teams to deliver scalable, reliable software.

Role overview

Lead a backend engineering team responsible for the AI Platform components used for evaluation and annotation. Own delivery, architecture, quality, and on-call readiness. Partner with cross-functional teams to align roadmaps with business priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers dedicated to AI Platform evaluation and annotation tools.
• Design and implement scalable services and data pipelines for labeling and evaluation workloads.
• Set technical direction, coding standards, and best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers to define requirements and milestones.
• Ensure reliable deployments, monitoring, and on-call readiness.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record in people management.
• Strong backend experience with distributed systems, databases, and APIs.
• Experience with AI/ML data labeling, annotation tools, or evaluation platforms is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work across functions.
