Datadog is seeking a Manager I, Engineering to lead the Backend Engineering team focused on the Agent Developer Experience. This role blends technical leadership with people management to deliver scalable, reliable, and developer-friendly experiences for the Datadog Agent ecosystem.

What you'll do

• Lead and grow a backend engineering team dedicated to the Datadog Agent Developer Experience.
• Define and execute the team roadmap, aligning with product strategy and user feedback.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, SRE, and Customer Success to deliver high-quality features.
• Mentor engineers, coach performance, and build a strong engineering culture.
• Ensure code quality, performance, reliability, and security across agent components.
• Recruit, onboard, and develop engineering talent in a fast-paced environment.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to diagnose issues and implement scalable solutions.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of software engineering leadership experience.
• Strong backend engineering background; experience with distributed systems.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Go, Python, C, or Rust.
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and observability tooling.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and people-management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent; MS/PhD a plus.
