About Datadog

Datadog is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join our New York City team. This is a full‑time, on‑site role focused on drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, advising on data privacy and regulatory matters, and partnering with cross‑functional business teams to support Datadog’s growth.

What You'll Do

• Draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements including MSAs, SaaS agreements, data processing agreements, NDAs, professional services, and reseller arrangements.
• Provide practical, business‑oriented legal advice to Sales, Partnerships, Product, and GTM teams to enable deals while managing legal risk.
• Counsel on data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance relevant to software/SaaS products and commercial transactions.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure contractual terms align with company policies and compliance requirements.
• Support global expansion efforts and work with external counsel as needed.

Who You Are

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admitted to the New York Bar (or eligible to practice in NY).
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in a technology or software company handling commercial contracts and data privacy matters.
• Strong negotiation and drafting skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to non‑legal colleagues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.
• Knowledge of data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) and related regulatory considerations.

Minimum Qualifications

• New York Bar admission or eligibility
• 5+ years in tech, software, or internet industry legal roles
