Overview
Databricks is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Performance to design and implement performance-sensitive components of the Databricks Lakehouse Platform. You will identify bottlenecks, optimize algorithms, and build instrumentation to measure latency and throughput. This role requires collaborating with product, platform, and data teams to deliver scalable, low-latency services.
Responsibilities
- Profile, benchmark, and optimize distributed systems and critical paths
- Design and implement performance improvements across services
- Build instrumentation, metrics, tracing, and tooling for performance analysis
- Collaborate with SRE and platform teams to ensure reliability and scalability
- Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews
Qualifications
- Strong software development experience in Scala, Java, or Python
- Experience with distributed systems and big data frameworks (e.g., Spark)
- Solid understanding of performance engineering principles and profiling tools
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- BS/MS in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
