About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Manager, AI Engineering (APJ) based in Singapore to lead and grow a high-performing AI engineering team across Asia Pacific and Japan. You will shape the AI engineering strategy, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, data science, and customer teams to deliver scalable, production-grade ML solutions on the Databricks platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a regional team of AI engineers across APJ, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Define and execute AI engineering strategy, roadmaps, and best practices for scalable ML systems.
- Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, platform teams, and product managers to design and ship production-ready AI features on the Databricks platform.
- Oversee end-to-end ML lifecycle activities including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, deployment, monitoring, and governance.
- Partner with customers and field teams to understand requirements, create solutions, and ensure successful delivery in APJ.
- Recruit, hire, and retain top AI engineering talent and manage performance reviews, compensation, and development plans.
- Drive reliability, security, and performance improvements across AI systems and ML workflows.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and contribute to a data-driven, results-oriented culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 7+ years of hands-on AI/ML engineering experience, with 3+ years in people leadership or management roles.
- Proven track record shipping ML-driven products or platforms at scale.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hands-on work with the Databricks platform and Spark ecosystem.
- Deep understanding of ML lifecycle components: data pipelines, feature stores, model training, deployment, monitoring, and governance (MLOps).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence across functions and levels.
- Willingness to work in APJ with possible travel as needed; fluency in English.
