Sr. Commercial Counsel (Financial Services)

Overview

Databricks is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel focused on Financial Services to lead complex commercial transactions and provide strategic legal guidance across the business. This role supports enterprise engagements, partnerships, and regulatory considerations for a fast-growing data and AI platform provider. Location options include Mountain View, CA; New York City, NY; or San Francisco, CA.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and close enterprise software agreements and financial services contracts with customers and strategic partners.
• Advise on regulatory, compliance, and risk issues in the financial services sector, including data privacy and security considerations.
• Structure commercial terms, indemnities, warranties, data processing terms, and risk allocations to balance business needs with legal risk.
• Collaborate with product, privacy, security, finance, and sales teams to ensure compliant and scalable deployments.
• Develop, maintain, and improve contract templates and playbooks; provide training to sales and business teams.
• Support the full deal lifecycle from scoping through execution and provide mentorship to junior attorneys.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as in-house counsel or at a law firm in corporate/commercial law with a focus on financial services or fintech.
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; active U.S. bar admission.
• Strong negotiation, drafting, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple deals and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience with SaaS agreements, data privacy and security considerations, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
