Senior Contracts Negotiator - Procurement Legal at Databricks

Databricks is seeking a Senior Contracts Negotiator within the Procurement Legal team to lead and manage complex vendor contract negotiations and drafting for the company. This role requires strong negotiation, drafting, and strategic thinking to protect Databricks’ interests while enabling business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiations and draft a wide range of contracts including Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), license agreements, statements of work (SOWs), and NDAs
• Collaborate with Legal, Procurement, Security, Compliance, and business teams to gather requirements and define negotiation strategies
• Ensure terms align with Databricks policies, privacy and data security standards, and applicable laws
• Manage the contract lifecycle from intake through signature, renewal, and amendment
• Maintain contract templates and playbooks; provide training to stakeholders
• Advise on risk, regulatory compliance, and commercial implications of contractual terms
• Mentor junior contracts staff and contribute to process improvements

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent admitted to practice law in the United States (or relevant jurisdiction)
• 6+ years of direct experience in contract negotiation, preferably in technology, software, cloud services, or data privacy
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills; ability to simplify complex terms; strong written and verbal communication
• Knowledge of data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and security requirements; experience with DPAs, MSAs, and SaaS agreements
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment; strong business judgment and risk assessment
• High integrity, ethics, and ability to manage competing priorities
