Lead Solutions Architect (CTO level, DS/DE background, Energy, Utilities, Manufacturing)

Overview

Databricks is hiring a Lead Solutions Architect at CTO level with deep data science (DS) and data engineering (DE) expertise to drive strategic technical engagements with customers in the energy, utilities, and manufacturing sectors from our London office.

Role and responsibilities

• Own end-to-end solution design, architecture, and delivery engagements for enterprise customers.
• Lead discovery sessions, define data strategy, and design scalable data architectures using the Databricks Lakehouse Platform (Delta Lake, Apache Spark).
• Guide and mentor field engineers and solution architects, collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams.
• Ensure architectural correctness, security, governance, and best practices; define reference architectures and modernization roadmaps.
• Present CTO-level technical leadership to executives and technical stakeholders; communicate tradeoffs and ROI.
• Travel as needed within Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in data engineering and data science enabling digital transformations, preferably in energy, utilities, or manufacturing sectors.
• Deep hands-on expertise with Apache Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow; strong proficiency in Python and SQL; knowledge of Scala is a plus.
• Cloud experience across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills; ability to engage with CTO-level stakeholders.
• Prior experience in solutions architecture or field engineering leadership; willingness to travel.
