Position Overview
Director, Field Engineering Federal will lead and scale Databricks' field engineering efforts to support federal customers, ensuring successful deployments, adoption of the Databricks platform, and customers achieving measurable value.
Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and lead a team of field engineers supporting federal accounts; set strategy, hiring, performance management, and career development.
- Partner with Sales, Product, Solutions Architecture, and Customer Success to drive technical success and value realization for government clients.
- Represent Databricks in federal markets, ensuring compliance with government security and procurement requirements.
- Develop and execute technical account plans, delivery roadmaps, and architectures that meet federal security and data governance standards.
- Drive platform adoption through pre-sales activities, proof of value, deployment architecture, and hands-on assistance with complex data engineering tasks.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to influence roadmap based on federal customer feedback.
- Manage program budgets, resource planning, and travel to federal sites as needed.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of field engineering, solutions architecture, or equivalent in a leadership role; 5+ years of people management experience.
- Experience working with federal agencies and knowledge of government procurement processes and compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST).
- Deep expertise in data platforms, cloud technologies, and data engineering with a focus on Databricks and Apache Spark.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence executive and technical audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Willingness to travel as needed to customer sites and conferences.
