📋 Description

• Serve as technical authority on relevance metrics across Consumer.
• Build metrics frameworks and offline evaluation for ranking.
• Design experiments for relevance features, accounting for spillover effects.
• Identify opportunities where measurement unlocks product insights.
• Partner with ML engineers to translate metrics into user impact.
• Influence long-term Feeds and Search strategy via experimentation.

🎯 Requirements

• PhD in Statistics, CS, Information Retrieval, Economics, or MS with depth.
• For MS: 12+ years in applied science, data science, or ranking roles.
• For PhD: 8+ years in applied science, data science, or ranking roles.
• Deep expertise in metrics design and evaluation for ranking.
• Strong understanding of causal inference and experimentation.
• Experience defining and validating quality metrics for content ranking, search, or recommendations at scale.
• Strong theoretical grounding in experimental design, including power analysis, variance reduction, and sequential testing.
• Expert knowledge of SQL and proficiency in R and/or Python.
• Demonstrated ability to influence product and organizational strategy via data-driven insights.
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring data scientists and building organizational capability in relevance evaluation and experimentation.
• Preferred: Published research or industry contributions in recommendation systems or causal inference.
• Preferred: Experience with social network or user-generated content platforms with non-trivial relevance challenges.
