Controller - Director of Accounting & Finance

📋 Description

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting for 40+ entities and ~100 properties
• Lead month, quarter, and year-end closes; hands-on when needed
• Manage AP, AR, reconciliations, intercompany, owner distributions, and lender reporting
• Build budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and KPI reporting
• Design department-wide systems; document SOPs; drive automation and AI integration
• Provide timely, actionable financial reporting to ownership and management

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of accounting experience
• Significant experience managing accounting ops for a complex business
• Ability to organize and manage the entire accounting and finance department
• Strong understanding of GAAP, GL, reconciliations, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls
• Experience managing multiple entities, properties, cost centers, or business units
• AppFolio experience strongly preferred
• Experience implementing automation, AI tools, or technology-enabled accounting processes
• Experience building dashboards, budget-to-actual reports, KPI reporting systems
