Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineering Intern - Summer 2026

📋 Description

• Develop CFD models of high-temperature test systems, modeling heat transfer and fluid flow.
• Perform CFD validation benchmarking against test data and literature.
• Collaborate with Reactor Systems, Core Design, CFD, Safety, and Testing teams to share results.
• Support CFD methodology development and novel solutions for KP-FHR.
• Build CFD models of test facilities; post-process simulations for test conditions.
• Present results in technical documents and oral presentations.

🎯 Requirements

• Currently enrolled in BS/MS/PhD in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2+ years using commercial CFD tools; STAR-CCM+ preferred.
• Experience with SolidWorks or STAR-CCM+ 3D CAD is preferred.
• Coursework in heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Onsite work at Alameda, CA; able to collaborate in a highly team-based environment.
