Overview
CompanyCam is seeking a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to join our growing engineering team. You will build and maintain scalable Rails applications that power our field service software, collaborating with product, design, and frontend teams to deliver robust features for users across the United States and beyond. This is a remote role focused on delivering high-quality software with a strong emphasis on maintainability and performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-quality Rails applications and RESTful APIs.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver value-driven features.
- Write clean, maintainable code with a strong emphasis on testability; implement unit and integration tests using RSpec.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and security; monitor production systems and respond to incidents.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in architectural discussions and code reviews.
- Contribute to development best practices and help define the roadmap for the engineering team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
- Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL and writing efficient SQL.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and working with JSON.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks (RSpec) and test-driven development.
- Experience with background jobs (e.g., Sidekiq) and Git workflows.
- Comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum environment; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization (Docker) is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience with frontend frameworks (React/TypeScript) and API-first design.
- Knowledge of Redis, caching strategies, and performance optimization.
