Commercial Counsel, Networking & Datacenter Operations

📋 Description

• Negotiate dark fiber, IRU, IP transit, peering, and subsea capacity.
• Lead telecom regulatory work: FCC Section 214, submarine licenses, Team Telecom.
• Structure and negotiate O&M and facilities-management contracts and SLAs.
• Own asset disposition, decommissioning, and data-hall fit-out terms with Infra Security.
• Build and maintain contract templates, SLA playbooks, and training to scale.
• Manage SLA-credit disputes, outages, and root-cause investigations with Litigation.

🎯 Requirements

• JD and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Fluency in availability and SLA constructs, route diversity, colo leases.
• Experience with high-volume, template-driven vendor contracting with risk controls.
• Comfort with telecom regulatory concepts (FCC Section 214, cable licenses, Team Telecom) and hand-off.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with outside counsel while maintaining strategic direction.
• Strong judgment on vendor terms affecting availability, security, or flexibility.
• Excellent collaboration and communication to translate network concepts into business risk.
• Genuine interest in digital infrastructure operations and site availability.
• 10–12 years of telecom and network legal experience.
• In-house experience with cloud providers, carriers, or datacenters.
• Experience at large tech firms supporting network/colo transactions.
• Law firm experience in telecom, technology transactions, or infrastructure.
• Experience with commissioning requirements and handoff, change management, decommissioning.
• Familiarity with insurance and risk-transfer in large-scale infra contracts.
