We are looking for a thoughtful and dedicated business development professional to join our expanding team as the Senior Director of Business Development for Veteran Services.

Reporting directly to the Head of Solutions, this role will develop Coforma’s growth strategy within our Veteran Services focus area. You will build relationships and understanding within and across project teams, partners, and stakeholders. Your expertise in aligning stakeholders, seeing proposals through to successful awards, and operating in a fast-paced environment will be key to your success at Coforma.

The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter who is passionate about Veteran Services with experience in business development lifecycles, proposal management, and building strategic relationships with senior stakeholders and business partners. As part of our Growth and Solutions team, you’ll play a key role in educating our teams and stakeholders, facilitating aligned opportunities, and selling a diverse range of digital products and services that positively impact people’s access to government services.

$183,340 to $191,580 Annual Salary + Benefits + Growth Potential

Placement within this range will be based on the competency level of the candidate. An offer will be made at one of the following tiers:

Tier 1: $183,340 — Meets minimum qualification/experience requirements. Beyond onboarding, will need additional guidance and training to perform key responsibilities of the role.

Tier 2: $188,490 — Experienced and fully competent. Beyond onboarding, can independently perform key responsibilities of the role.

Tier 3: $191,580 — Highly experienced and can perform all responsibilities of the role at a higher level than expected once onboarding is completed.

To honor our company-wide equitable pay system, the posted salary range and corresponding tier salaries are non-negotiable.

This is a US-based remote position open to applicants in select states listed below. Some travel will be required.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Assume ownership of the Veteran Services focus area growth plan, articulating Coforma’s value proposition to partners and customers while making iterative improvements and executing effectively to meet revenue generation goals
  • Identify key contract opportunities and maintain a 2-year strategic pipeline
  • Develop sustained, deep relationships with influencers within and outside the customer organization and proactively present new ideas and business planning efforts
  • Use acquired insights to strengthen Coforma’s position for targeted pursuits within our focus areas and promote long-term, mutually profitable relationships
  • Act as a subject matter expert throughout the business development and proposal management lifecycle from beginning to end until an award is made
  • Develop and regularly update formal lead and opportunity pursuit reviews per our methodologies, tools, and other resource systems
  • Work under the guidance of the Head of Solutions to strategize and drive Veteran Services-related business development initiatives, creating a pipeline of opportunities and analyzing those opportunities to provide Coforma leadership with various options and the best strategy to secure opportunity wins
  • Maintain a deep understanding and application of Coforma’s capabilities and their importance to our customers and identify and secure potential teaming partners (OEMs, primes, subcontractors, etc.) that complement and add strategic value to our own focus areas
  • Coordinate with appropriate resources to execute necessary legal and financial agreements, such as NDAs and teaming agreements, before RFP release
  • Identify trends in customer purchasing patterns and enact specific plans to help the Growth and Solutions team capture a greater share of business in the Veteran Services space
  • Represent the company at external business networking opportunities, conferences, and events, and attend on-site customer meetings, business reviews, and industry days as needed
  • Who You Are (Requirements)

  • A minimum of 10 years of business development experience in the digital services, software development, or IT consulting services markets, with a deep understanding of how federal, commercial, and/or nonprofit organizations procure, manage, and source funding/budgets
  • 5+ years of experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
  • Proven track record of success pursuing and winning new and follow-on federal business by conducting market and industry research analyses, building and leveraging relationships, and developing effective teaming and win strategies
  • Senior management-level communication, presentation, and client relationship skills with a proven ability to tailor verbal and written communication to a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Full-time resident of the contiguous United States (must be legally authorized to work in the US now and in the future without sponsorship)
  • Must be able to successfully pass any applicable background and/or security checks as needed
  • Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Veteran of the US Armed Forces
  • Demonstrated digital marketing skills with a strong understanding of human-centered design, agile software development, and product development
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of federal contract vehicles and acquisition strategies such as GSA MAS/FSS, GWACs, IDIQs, set-aside, sole-source, multiple-award, etc.
  • Experience working with disadvantaged small businesses (SDVOSB, 8(a) companies) or mentor-protégé program participants in the digital services industry

  • Internet: Will prioritize and maintain access to strong, reliable internet for the remote nature of our work, except when on vacation or holiday.
  • Security: Will keep the highest security practices to ensure privacy and security of Coforma and client information, given the nature of our work, even when on vacation.
  • Travel Flexibility: On request and with advanced notice, will attend in-person events such as meetings, workshops, and trainings as assigned for projects that require it.

    Compensation

    The salary range for this position is $183,340 to $191,580 inline withour company-wideequitable pay scale.
