Tax Lead

Reporting to the ClearBank Head of Tax you will be responsible for delivery of Direct Tax matters impacting ClearBank globally, with the opportunity to assist on other tax related matters as needed, providing advice and support to the business as well as ensuring we are complying with all our Direct Tax compliance requirements. This is a hands-on role.
Your Mission:
Preparing the corporation tax computations for the UK tax resident ClearBank entities, and acting as key contact with professional advisors on the preparation of corporation tax computations of overseas entities
Acting as key contact with professional advisors and the Technology team on the preparation of the UK R&D tax credit claims. Help drive improvements and efficiencies in that process.
Preparing the consolidated and standalone year-end tax reporting disclosures for the ClearBank Group entities
Maintaining transfer pricing documentation and assisting Financial Control and FP&A teams in determining cost allocation methodologies
Assisting the ClearBank Head of Tax with tax advisory projects, ranging from group restructurings to new product approvals.
Undertaking tax technical research across all taxes to support requests from the business.
Preparation and presentation to senior stakeholders of annual SAO documentation
Working with the FP&A team to provide tax input into the budget and forecasting cycles.
Assisting with various tax risk and governance projects, including drafting policy and procedure documentation and testing controls as part of the annual RCSA process
Assisting the Head of Tax to drive process improvements, identifying opportunities for automation and to leverage AI.
Undertake tax horizon scanning, providing the Head of Tax and other senior finance stakeholders with updates on changes impacting ClearBank.
What we're looking for:
To excel in this role, you’ll also need:
To be a qualified accountant (we are open to certs) with proven corporate tax or mixed tax experience
Experience in corporation tax compliance and reporting essential, experience in transfer pricing, R&D tax credit claims and other taxes desirable
The ability to explain complex tax issues to senior stakeholders in simple, easy to understand language
Excellent data analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to challenge and improve processes and procedures
Background in Banking or Financial Services not required, but preferred

Our hiring process and what you can expect:
Application: a member of our talent acquisition team will review your application against the key requirements for the role and let you know within two weeks whether you’re moving forward to the next stage;
Screening: You’ll spend 30-45 minutes speaking to one of our recruiters learning more about the role and ClearBank, and we’ll get it know more about you, your experience and how your skills align with the role (this will be via phone or Teams video call). You can expect to hear back from us within seven days following this meeting (if things are taking longer than expected, we’ll let you know that too);
First Interview: You’ll spend one hour with a member of our hiring team focusing on your skills, competencies and your ways of working at the same time we’ll give you time to ask more questions about the role, the team and learn more about the ClearBank culture. This will be via Teams.
Second Interview: This will be a competency-based interview with one or more members of our team.
Final Stage: You will have a final meeting with the Head of Department. This will be around 45-60 minutes.
