Data Scientists play an exciting role in maturing HealthScape’s analytics expertise by helping develop cutting-edge capabilities and creating actionable insights for our healthcare clients. This role is a key player in developing, testing, and scaling new and innovative data science solutions that directly impact our health plan clients and their customers.
Support clients through consulting engagements in key analytic activities such as defining data needs, evaluating data quality, designing and testing models and algorithms, and sharing analysis outputs.
Collect, parse, manage, analyze, and visualize large and disparate datasets using existing analytic infrastructure to identify trends and discover opportunities for change.
Participate in the design and development of data-driven solutions, leveraging appropriate modeling techniques informed by a thorough understanding of industry dynamics, client challenges, and underlying hypotheses. Use advanced analytics across multiple engagements/projects, leading model and algorithm development, as well as modular code development, maintenance, and improvement, while leveraging version control tools such as Bitbucket.
Participate in concept design, requirements definition, model development, testing, and deployment of data science solutions into production.
Perform validation of the source data and necessary data wrangling to ensure the quality and alignment of the data as required to meet the data science project goals.
Apply knowledge of data science concepts and modeling techniques, including linear regression, Tree-based methods, K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), ensemble methods, and clustering, to develop and deploy machine learning solutions independently or with minimal oversight.
Support the ongoing development of new technologies and data science capabilities, including Generative-AI driven Natural Language Processing (NLP) and the creation of AI agents and chatbots to deliver impactful, data-driven healthcare solutions.
Create clear, compelling narratives to communicate key outcomes, trends, and patterns identified in the data to internal and external clients, leveraging data visualization techniques to enhance storytelling and effectively convey insights clearly and concisely.
Contribute in the growth of our data and analytics-focused culture across HealthScape through knowledge sharing, cross-functional training, and mentorship.
3-5 years of data science experience in healthcare or related industry.
Bachelor’s Degree required in a quantitative or technology-related field of study (e.g., Business, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Analytics, or Informatics).
Strong programming experience developing and delivering analytics with languages and tools such as SQL, Python, Snowpark, dbt, Jupyter Notebooks, R, and Git.
Previous experience in the application of advanced analytic techniques and the development, training, testing, and deployment of data science models leveraging standard practices and version control tools (e.g., GitHub, BitBucket).
Previous experience with cloud data warehouse technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or Big Query. We are a Snowflake shop and Snowflake experience is greatly preferred.
Visualization development expertise (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI).
Strong analytic skills, including ability to apply quantitative and statistical analysis techniques, such as hypothesis testing, clustering, regression modeling, random forest, and gradient boosting techniques, among others, to unstructured problems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills – possessing the ability to communicate and deliver complex analytics information to clients and executive audiences.
Enthusiasm to navigate and continue learning in an entrepreneurial environment.
Salary range: $86,500 - $100,000 plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
