Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Controller to join our dynamic finance team. This role is pivotal in supporting core accounting operations, financial reporting, systems optimization, and transaction support. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capabilities, and a passion for process improvement in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting

  • Lead and participate in monthly close processes across multiple entities in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and fixed asset schedules.

  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and support external audit processes.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies; assist in documentation and updates.

  • Manage recurring processes such as PTO accruals, revenue deferrals, and reserve calculations.

Workday & Systems Leadership

  • Act as a key finance lead on Workday Financials modules (GL, projects, fixed assets, reporting)

  • Identify and drive system automation, reporting standardization, and process redesign initiatives

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to implement operational efficiencies and scalability within the finance tech stack

M&A and Transaction Support

  • Partner with Corporate Development and FP&A on purchase price accounting (PPA), deal accounting, and post-close integration.

  • Monitor technical accounting implications of acquisitions and equity transactions (e.g., ASC 805).

  • Participate in diligence and financial statement preparation for transactions.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff; foster a collaborative and growth-oriented culture.

  • Structure team responsibilities to ensure timely close cycles and accurate reporting.

  • Support professional development through coaching and performance feedback.

Qualifications and Desired Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA strongly preferred).

  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance.

  • Experience in both public accounting and corporate finance, ideally in a PE-backed or acquisitive organization.

  • Direct experience with ERP systems (e.g., Workday, Salesforce).

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and audit readiness.

  • Experience with multi-entity consolidations and intercompany eliminations.

  • Familiarity with valuation analysis and ASC 805.

  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; Tableau a plus.

  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Salary range: $140,000-$170,000, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
