From socks and pet food to cosmetics, charles is helping countless brands reach their loyal customers every day, one conversation at a time. As a Senior Product Engineer at charles, you'll help drive our product and infrastructure forward, enabling us to revolutionize conversational AI.
You'll work closely with other Engineers, Product, and Design to build scalable, high-performing systems that solve real customer problems. Your contributions will result in reliable, data-driven solutions that support millions of users and push the boundaries of AI-driven messaging commerce.
THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING- Identify and solve high-impact problems using product and business judgment to prioritize what matters most
- Build and iterate on AI-powered conversational features, leveraging LLMs to create meaningful customer experiences
- Extend the Charles API to integrate messaging with CRMs, CDPs, and shop systems
- Write clear, maintainable documentation and ensure reliable, well-tested code
- Monitor systems for performance and implement data-driven improvements
- Review your peers' code and contribute to the company's growth
- Break product initiatives into small technical deliveries and estimate workload
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering
- Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript (preferred) or another high-level programming language (Java, Go, Rust, Python)
- Product and business sense: You understand customer needs and focus on solving the right problems, not just building technically interesting solutions
- Experience or strong interest in working with LLMs and AI to build products (prompt engineering, AI APIs, understanding practical limitations)
- Experience deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms, preferably GCP
- A testing-first mindset with strong monitoring skills and the ability to write reliable, scalable code
- Data-driven decision-making and creativity in problem-solving
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Mentoring skills to help the whole team grow as we scale
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with data protection regulations such as GDPR and designing compliant data architectures
- Previous experience in B2B SaaS startups
- Previous experience in AdTech / MarTech
