Accounting Specialist to maintain accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. They will perform daily accounting tasks such as monthly financial reporting, general ledger entries, and record payments and adjustments. The Accounting Specialist will collaborate closely with the Financial Accountant, support process improvements across the finance function, and report directly to the Finance Manager. Responsibilities and Duties Prepare and execute journal entries.Perform timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations.Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, prioritizing urgent payments, monitoring client reminders, and supporting the Finance Manager in the oversight of these balance sheet areas.Review and control expense recognition, ensuring compliance with classification, tax, and accrual requirements.Support audits by providing required documentation, explanations, and follow-up.Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and that accounting bank balances reconcile with financial institution statements.Coordinate and set up all bank payments, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely executionPrepare the required documentation for external advisors responsible for tax compliance in Spain and Switzerland.Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and support the Finance Manager with special projects as neededSupport the finance team with additional administrative, operational, or ad-hoc tasks as required. Lines of communication The Accounting Specialist reports to the Finance Manager.The Accounting Specialist will collaborate closely with the Financial Accountant.The Accounting Specialist also communicates with the Financial Accountant and occasionally the CFO. Working conditions Temporary 9-month contract to cover a maternity leaveRole based in BarcelonaHybrid position: 3 days per week on-site (Barcelona), 2 days per week remote.Expected start date: around January 15, 2026. Qualifications and requirements Work experience as an Accountant.Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).Experience working with accounting tools, ERPs, or expense management platforms (Payhawk and Quickbooks preferred).Experience collaborating with external tax advisors (Spain and Switzerland preferred).Advanced MS Excel or Google sheets skills.Experience with general ledger functions.Strong attention to detail and ability to work with multiple entities and currencies.University degree in Business Administration or Financial Management and Accounting.
