Overview

Care.com is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead and scale the company's engineering organization, shaping technology strategy and delivering reliable software for caregivers and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic technical leadership and set the long-term engineering roadmap aligned with product and business goals.
• Scale and mentor a high-performing engineering organization across multiple product lines.
• Partner with product, design, security, and operations to deliver high-quality, secure software at scale.
• Define architectural standards, drive software quality, and ensure robust reliability, performance, and security.
• Build and manage budgets, headcount planning, and talent development; recruit and retain top engineering talent.
• Foster a culture of experimentation, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of leadership in fast-growing organizations.
• 5+ years in senior leadership roles overseeing large engineering teams and multi-timezone delivery.
• Proven experience scaling platforms, defining architectural strategy, and delivering customer-centric products.
• Strong collaboration with executives, product, design, security, and compliance teams.
• Excellent people leadership, hiring, coaching, and performance management skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
