Vice President of Engineering

Care.com is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead and scale its engineering organization. This executive role will drive technical strategy, build high-performing teams, and partner with product, design, and business leadership to deliver customer-focused experiences. You will oversee architectural decisions, establish engineering standards, and ensure the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable platforms that power Care.com services.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic technical leadership for the engineering organization, aligning with company goals and product strategy.
• Build and mentor a world-class engineering team, attracting top talent and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Define and execute the technical roadmap, system architecture, and scalability plans for core platforms and services.
• Partner with product, design, and operations to deliver high-impact products and features with excellent quality and reliability.
• Establish engineering processes, testing, security, performance, and release management to ensure compliant and repeatable delivery.
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and executive communications to align engineering with business objectives.
• Represent engineering in executive discussions and communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience with a proven track record of scaling technology organizations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Deep expertise in software architecture, cloud services, microservices, data platforms, security, and reliability.
• Strong people management and hiring experience with a focus on building diverse, high-performing teams.
• Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with metrics-driven development and delivering customer-centric products.
