Overview

Canonical is seeking a System Software Engineer to work on the Python interpreter, tooling, and ecosystem that powers Ubuntu and Canonical's developer community and customers. This is a full-time remote role based in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Drive one of our core toolchains - GCC/LLVM or Rust - used in the making of Ubuntu, by our developer community and our customers.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the Python interpreter, tooling, and ecosystem that powers Ubuntu and Canonical’s developer community.
• Collaborate with engineers across Canonical to improve performance, reliability, and usability of core toolchains.
• Engage in design and implementation discussions for compiler toolchains and runtimes.

Qualifications

• Experience with Python interpreter development or tooling is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of compilers and toolchains such as GCC, LLVM, or Rust.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team.
