Software Engineering Manager - Ubuntu Linux Kernel
Canonical is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for delivering the Ubuntu Linux kernel across platforms and architectures—from embedded devices to desktop/server systems and large-scale cloud environments. This full-time, remote role offers the opportunity to shape kernel development and engineering practices at Canonical.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional engineering team focused on the Ubuntu Linux kernel
- Lead a team to deliver the Ubuntu Linux kernel across platforms and architectures—from embedded devices to desktop/server systems to large-scale cloud environments
- Define technical direction, delivery plans, and roadmap alignment across platforms
- Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and engineering teams to ensure high-quality software delivery
- Maintain strong code quality practices, reviews, and testing across the kernel stack
Qualifications
- Experience in software engineering leadership roles
- Experience with kernel or low-level systems software
- Strong collaboration, mentoring, and communication skills
