Software Engineer, Ceph & Distributed Storage

Overview

Canonical is seeking a Software Engineer for the Ceph & Distributed Storage team. In this role you will work on Ceph, an open-source, highly scalable distributed storage system. You will contribute to building, optimizing, and maintaining components of the storage platform, collaborating closely with engineers across remote teams to deliver fast, reliable storage solutions. This position is remote (Home Based - Americas; Home based - EMEA), allowing you to work from anywhere within those regions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain components of the Ceph distributed storage platform.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve performance and reliability.
• Contribute to open-source Ceph projects and related tooling.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployments in cloud environments.
• Support remote colleagues across multiple time zones.

Qualifications

• Experience with distributed storage systems, ideally Ceph.
• Strong problem-solving and software development skills.
• Experience in systems programming or languages commonly used in storage projects.
• Ability to work effectively in remote, globally distributed teams.
