Overview

Canonical is seeking a Security Software Engineer to help secure Ubuntu for millions of users. In this role you will combine your passion for security, open source and Linux to improve the safety and reliability of Ubuntu across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate security features into Ubuntu and related open source projects.
  • Perform threat modeling, secure coding practices and code reviews.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to respond to security advisories and upstream patches.
  • Automate security testing and contribute to security tooling within the Linux ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in software development with a focus on security (Linux/Ubuntu preferred).
  • Proficiency in languages commonly used in security tooling (e.g., C/C++, Python).
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, static/dynamic analysis, and vulnerability management.
