Role overview

Canonical is seeking a Linux Desktop & Devices Support Engineer to assist Canonical's customers with Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes and the broad world of open source software in a remote, worldwide capacity. This entry-level engineering role provides an opportunity to develop technical skills within a leading open source company, while delivering strong customer support from a home office.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to customers via remote channels (email, chat, phone) for Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes and related open source technologies.
• Troubleshoot Linux desktop environments and device-related issues, guiding customers toward effective resolutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reproduce issues and contribute to the knowledge base and self-service resources.
• Document steps, findings, and resolutions to ensure consistent, high-quality support and onboarding for new users.

Requirements

• Interest in or experience with Linux desktop environments and devices.
• Familiarity with Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and clear communication, especially in remote support contexts.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively from home and manage time across multiple customer inquiries.
