About California Academy of Sciences

The California Academy of Sciences is a leading science organization located in San Francisco, bringing together a world-class natural history museum, aquarium and planetarium to inspire science education and public engagement.

Director of Sales

As the Director of Sales, you will lead the museum's revenue generation through strategic partnerships, sponsorships, membership programs, and education initiatives. You will build and manage relationships with corporate partners, foundations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to advance the Academy's mission while ensuring sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the overall sales strategy and annual revenue plan.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing sales team.
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Collaborate with marketing, programs, and fundraising teams to maximize impact and visibility.
  • Monitor budgets, forecast revenue, and report on performance against targets.
  • Represent the institution at external events and cultivate key relationships.

Qualifications

  • Proven senior-level sales leadership experience, preferably in nonprofit, cultural institutions, or education-focused organizations.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Track record of achieving or exceeding revenue targets and driving strategic partnerships.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
