Engineering Manager II, NOC at Box

Based in Warsaw, Poland, this on-site role leads Box's Network Operations Center (NOC) engineering team to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of Box's critical infrastructure.

Overview

Box is seeking an Engineering Manager II for the Network Operations Center to supervise a team of engineers, drive incident response, and partner with Platform, SRE, Security, and Product teams to continuously improve reliability and scalability of Box services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of NOC/Platform engineers.
  • Define incident management processes, on-call rotation, severity levels, and post-incident reviews.
  • Architect and implement monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with Platform, Cloud, Security, and Product teams to improve reliability and security.
  • Manage project delivery, prioritization, staffing, hiring, onboarding, and performance development.
  • Improve automation and tooling to reduce toil and MTTR.
  • Drive capacity planning, cost optimization, and SLA adherence.
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap and establish production standards.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software/ops engineering experience with 2+ years in a people management role (Manager or higher).
  • Experience leading NOC/SRE teams or equivalent; strong leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Deep expertise in cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP), Linux administration, scripting (Python, Go), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proven incident response experience, on-call management, runbooks, and post-incident reviews.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills; ability to influence across disciplines.
  • Familiarity with monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, PagerDuty, ELK/Splunk) and automation tooling (Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience with network operations, disaster recovery, and security incident handling.
