About the Role
We are looking for a Wireless Network Technician to manage, maintain, and optimize the wireless infrastructure for a large, multi-floor corporate office campus. This role ensures reliable, secure, and high-performance Wi-Fi connectivity supporting critical business applications including Microsoft Teams, VoIP, and other bandwidth-intensive services.
As part of the IT Network Engineering team, you’ll play a key role in daily monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization to ensure an exceptional user experience across all wireless networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain wireless network performance across all building floors and access points.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (9800 series) and Cisco APs.
- Diagnose and resolve end-user connectivity issues, including Teams and VoIP call quality problems.
- Conduct regular RF surveys and spectrum analysis to identify interference sources and improve coverage.
- Manage SSIDs, VLANs, and security policies for internal and guest Wi-Fi networks.
- Maintain documentation of network topology, device inventory, and configuration changes.
- Collaborate with IT teams on firmware upgrades, patches, and capacity planning.
- Support physical installations of new access points, cabling, and switches as required.
- Respond to service tickets promptly and provide on-site technical support.
- Ensure compliance with all wireless security standards (WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X, NAC).
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Networking, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting enterprise wireless environments.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco WLCs (9800 series) and Cisco DNA Center (preferred).
- Solid understanding of RF fundamentals, channel planning, and spectrum management.
- Experience with wireless monitoring tools such as Cisco Catalyst Center, Ekahau, NetSpot, or Cisco Prime.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Certifications:
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CCNP Enterprise Wireless
- CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator)
- CompTIA Network+ or Security+
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (for AP installation and cable work).
- Comfortable walking long distances across building floors.
