Overview
Blockchain.com is seeking a Data Protection Officer to lead our data privacy program in Paris. You will ensure GDPR compliance across the organization, advise on privacy risks, and collaborate with product, engineering, security, and legal teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of Blockchain.com's data protection program in alignment with GDPR and applicable privacy laws.
- Maintain records of processing activities and conduct data protection impact assessments (DPIAs).
- Oversee data mapping, data retention, and data subject rights processes (DSARs).
- Negotiate and manage data processing agreements with vendors and ensure appropriate data transfer mechanisms for cross-border processing.
- Advise product and engineering teams on privacy-by-design and default concepts during new initiatives.
- Coordinate with the security and legal teams and act as the liaison with data protection authorities as needed.
- Develop and deliver privacy training and awareness programs for staff.
- Monitor and report on privacy controls; manage incident response and breach notification procedures.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of GDPR and EU data protection laws; proven experience as a Data Protection Officer or in a similar role.
- Experience with DPIAs, data mapping, and managing data subject rights.
- Experience negotiating data processing agreements and managing cross-border data transfers.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Professional certifications in data protection/privacy (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM) are a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment; fluency in English; French language skills are a plus.
