Staff Software Engineer, GTM Engineering at Block

Block is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Go-To-Market (GTM) Engineering team in New York, with remote options available. You will help design and build core platform features that power Block's GTM initiatives.

What you'll do

• Build and scale backend and frontend systems supporting Block's GTM products.
• Own features across the full development lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate with product, data, and design teams to define roadmaps and deliver impact.
• Mentor engineers, contribute to architecture decisions, and uphold best practices.
• Improve performance, reliability, security, and operational excellence of GTM systems.

What we're looking for

• Senior/Staff level software engineer with 6+ years of production-grade software experience.
• Proficient in at least one major programming language (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go).
• Experience with distributed systems, databases, and cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong problem solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment.
