Staff Software Engineer - Core OS Platform

Job Description

Block is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Core OS Platform to design and build the core OS services powering Block's products. This remote-friendly role is available to candidates in North America. You will help define the platform's architecture, drive high-quality delivery, and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain core OS platform components and services.
• Influence architecture, performance, and reliability across platforms.
• Collaborate with Product, Security, and Infrastructure teams to deliver robust solutions.
• Mentor and grow other engineers; participate in code reviews and design discussions.
• Ensure scalability and security of core OS services in production environments.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent).
• Strong proficiency in C++ and Rust; experience with systems programming.
• Experience with distributed systems and large-scale platforms.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
