Staff iOS Engineer, Food & Beverage Point of Sale at Block

Block is seeking a Staff iOS Engineer to join our Food & Beverage Point of Sale team in the Bay Area. This on-site role will contribute to building scalable iOS apps that power payments, orders, and merchant experiences.

Responsibilities

Design, build, test, and maintain high-quality iOS applications for iPhone and iPad.
Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to ship features end-to-end.
Develop UI components using UIKit and SwiftUI, focusing on performance and accessibility.
Integrate with REST and GraphQL APIs, handle offline data, and ensure robust error handling.
Contribute to testing, CI/CD pipelines, instrumentation, and monitoring.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architectural decisions.

Requirements

Strong experience in iOS development with Swift; experience with UIKit and SwiftUI.
Proficiency with Xcode, debugging, and performance optimization.
Familiarity with REST/GraphQL APIs, JSON, and asynchronous programming.
Knowledge of Core Data for persistence and push notifications.
Experience with unit testing and CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

About Block

Block builds payment and point-of-sale solutions for merchants. This is an on-site role located in the Bay Area, California.

Salary

Salary range: USD 264,000 to 395,000 per year (USD ranges for the role).
