Senior Product Security Engineer

Overview

Block is seeking a Senior Product Security Engineer to help design and implement security controls across Block's product portfolio. This remote-friendly role is open to candidates in North America, with the possibility to work from anywhere in the region.

Responsibilities

• Lead threat modeling and security design reviews for new features and products
• Build and maintain secure SDLC practices, tooling, and standards
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities
• Investigate security incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement lessons learned
• Develop security automation and monitoring to reduce risk
• Provide security guidance and mentorship to engineers

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in product security or security engineering
• Strong knowledge of threat modeling methodologies (e.g., STRIDE, PASTA)
• Experience with secure software development lifecycle, code review, and vulnerability management
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java) and understanding of systems security
• Familiarity with cloud security, identity and access management, and network security
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
