Block is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Modeler specializing in Financial Crimes to join our team. This role focuses on building scalable ML models to detect and prevent financial crime across Block’s platform.

Role Overview

As a Senior Machine Learning Modeler for Financial Crimes, you will lead the end-to-end development of production-ready models, collaborate with data engineers, risk and product teams, and mentor others on the team.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate ML models for fraud detection, money-laundering risk, and anomaly detection.
• Advance feature engineering and data pipelines for training and deployment in production systems.
• Evaluate model performance, monitor drift, and implement improvements with governance and interpretability in mind.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into ML solutions.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to technical strategy.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in machine learning with a focus on financial crime or related domains.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
• Strong knowledge of fraud detection, anomaly detection, risk scoring, and model governance.
• Experience with large-scale data systems (SQL, Spark, BigQuery).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
