Senior Hardware Compliance Program Manager

Block, the company behind Square, is seeking a Senior Hardware Compliance Program Manager to lead the hardware regulatory and quality compliance program across Block's hardware products. You will work with engineering, product, legal, and supply chain to develop and execute certification strategies, manage external labs, and ensure ongoing compliance with global regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain the global hardware compliance program for Block hardware products.
  • Define certification roadmaps, project plans, and milestones with cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering to build regulatory considerations into product design.
  • Manage relationships with external laboratories, testing labs, and certification bodies; plan and execute tests and audits.
  • Monitor regulatory changes (FCC, CE, RoHS, REACH, UL, IEC, energy efficiency) and translate them into actionable requirements.
  • Create and maintain documentation and technical dossiers for audits and regulatory submissions.
  • Partner with Legal, Privacy, and Supply Chain to ensure compliance across product lifecycle and international markets.
  • Train and mentor teammates on regulatory processes and best practices.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of hardware compliance program management in consumer electronics or IoT.
  • Deep knowledge of major global standards (FCC, CE, UL, IEC), RoHS/REACH, energy efficiency requirements, and safety certifications.
  • Experience managing external labs, test plans, and certification submissions.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, and program leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to ~20% as needed.
