Product Lead, Controls

Block is seeking a Product Lead, Controls to own the strategy and delivery of internal controls across Block's fintech platforms. This role can be based in the Bay Area with remote flexibility.

Overview

Block is looking for a senior product leader who can design, build, and scale internal controls features across our payments and financial platforms. You will collaborate with product, engineering, risk, legal, and finance to define and measure controls that reduce risk and ensure regulatory compliance at scale.

Responsibilities

• Define the product strategy and roadmap for internal controls across Block's payments and financial software.
• Partner with Engineering, Design, Legal, Compliance, and Risk to translate regulatory requirements into user stories and features.
• Prioritize backlog, write detailed requirements, and establish success metrics and KPIs.
• Lead discovery, design, and validation, and own the delivery of controls features from concept to shipping.
• Collaborate with Security, Audit, and Compliance to ensure controls are effective and auditable.
• Influence product direction across multiple teams and drive cross-functional alignment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of product management experience in fintech or financial services, with a focus on risk/controls.
• Demonstrated ability to ship complex controls or risk-related features end-to-end.
• Strong analytical skills, data-driven decision making, and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience partnering with Legal, Compliance, and Audit teams; ability to work with senior stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field; MBA preferred.
