Block is seeking a Product Design Engineer to join our hardware team. This remote-friendly role focuses on designing hardware features from concept to production in a collaborative, fast-paced environment in the Bay Area.

Role Overview

You will own end-to-end product design for hardware features, collaborate with cross-functional teams (Hardware, Firmware, Software, Manufacturing), and drive products from initial concept to manufacturing release. You will balance user needs with manufacturability to deliver robust, scalable hardware solutions for Block's products.

Responsibilities

Lead the design of new hardware features from concept through production.
Develop and manage CAD models and technical drawings (preferably SolidWorks or equivalent).
Prototype, test, and iterate designs based on measurements and feedback.
Evaluate materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes to ensure DFx/DFM alignment.
Create design documentation (specifications, tolerances, DFMEA) and support manufacturing transfers and supplier collaboration.

Qualifications

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
3+ years of hands-on hardware product design experience.
Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools.
Hands-on prototyping experience (including 3D printing) and electronics integration familiarity.
Strong knowledge of tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Compensation

Salary range: USD 148,700 – USD 223,100 per year. Remote-friendly with on-site collaboration in the Bay Area.
