Product Design Director, Banking

Role overview

Block is hiring a Product Design Director, Banking to lead the design strategy and execution for Cash App's banking experiences. This is a senior leadership role overseeing product design across fintech and financial services features, guiding a team of designers, shaping user experience, and partnering with product, engineering, research, and marketing.

What you'll do

• Set the design vision and strategy for banking features on Cash App.
• Lead and mentor a team of product designers, design researchers, and visual designers.
• Collaborate with product management, engineering, data, and brand to define product roadmaps and ship high impact experiences.
• Establish and maintain design systems, components, and patterns for consistency and scalability.
• Oversee user research, usability studies, and analytics to inform design decisions.
• Partner with cross functional teams to define metrics and measure success.
• Represent design in strategy discussions and stakeholder reviews.

What we are looking for

• 10+ years of experience in product design, with a track record leading design for consumer fintech or banking products.
• Strong design leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills.
• Proven ability to drive product strategy from concept to delivery and measure impact.
• Expertise in user centered design, design systems, UX research, and prototyping tools such as Figma.
• Portfolio demonstrating thoughtful product design, problem solving, and collaboration across disciplines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills and ability to influence at senior levels.

Compensation

Salary ranges for this role are USD 252,000 to 377,000 per year depending on location and experience. The displayed ranges may vary by zone.
