Principal Product Designer, Local Services

Role overview

Block is hiring a Principal Product Designer for Local Services. In this senior design role, you will own the end-to-end design of Local Services experiences within Block’s product ecosystem. You’ll partner with product, research, and engineering teams to define strategy, create intuitive user flows, wireframes, and visual designs, and maintain a scalable design system. You will mentor designers, contribute to design standards, and help shape how local services are discovered, booked, and paid for across Block. This remote-friendly position is based in the Bay Area region and open to candidates who can collaborate across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end product design for Local Services within Block’s ecosystem, from discovery to delivery.
• Define user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs that are intuitive and accessible.
• Collaborate with product managers, researchers, and engineers to shape strategy and execute roadmaps.
• Build and maintain scalable design systems and components.
• Mentor designers and raise the design capability of the team.
• Advocate for inclusive, accessible design and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Extensive senior product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating impact on complex products.
• Proficiency with design tools (e.g., Figma) and a deep understanding of UX research and information architecture.
• Experience designing for marketplaces or Local Services is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to contribute to and scale design systems and guidelines.
• Bonus: experience shipping products for web and mobile platforms.
