Overview
Block is seeking a First Line Risk Program Lead to design and operate Block’s frontline risk program. In this role, you will partner with product, engineering, operations, and legal teams to implement risk controls, assess emerging risks, track remediation, and provide leadership with clear risk reporting. This position offers remote work options for candidates in North America, with the opportunity to influence risk management across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of the first-line risk program, including risk assessments, control design, monitoring, and remediation.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, operations, legal, and compliance to embed risk controls into processes.
- Develop and maintain risk indicators and executive dashboards; deliver regular risk reporting to senior leadership.
- Manage risk-related issues, track remediation plans, and coordinate with internal audit and regulatory teams.
- Drive risk awareness, training, and continuous process improvements across teams.
- Build strong partnerships with business owners and stakeholders to ensure risk ownership.
Requirements
- Proven experience in risk management, internal controls, or regulatory compliance in a technology or fintech environment.
- Strong analytical skills, communication, and program/project management abilities.
- Ability to translate complex risk concepts into actionable controls and processes.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing without formal authority.
- Familiarity with applicable regulations and data privacy considerations; professional certifications a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree or professional credentials (e.g., CRISC, CIA, CISA) a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: USD 207,900 – 311,900 per year. Remote work options available.
