Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment. The blocks that form our foundational teams — People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more — provide support and guidance at the corporate level. They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block.

The Role

We are seeking an accomplished Financial Crimes Regulatory and Execution Oversight Lead with deep expertise in regulatory oversight, compliance governance, and risk management. You will be accountable for driving execution oversight, regulatory commitments, and issue management on behalf of Block’s Financial Crimes Program. You will also provide guidance on the design of the BSA/AML compliance framework, U.S. regulatory interpretation, and enterprise risk management practices.

As a program leader, you will drive continuous enhancement of Block’s Financial Crimes compliance controls. The role will ensure the organization proactively adapts to evolving regulatory expectations, strengthens control effectiveness, and embeds sustainable risk management practices to support long-term business growth.

You Will
  • Ensure organizational adherence to Block’s Financial Crimes program by overseeing execution of regulatory requirements, implementing governance structures, and managing regulatory commitments and issue remediation.
  • Design and implement a Financial Crimes engagement model and supporting documentation to drive consistent issue management across Block, including root cause analysis, remediation planning, and monitoring for sustainable outcomes.
  • Lead AML participation in the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework by aligning regulatory requirements with policies, procedures, and controls across the second line of defense.
  • Within the Financial Crimes Compliance team, oversee centralized support for audits and regulatory exams, ensuring consistent interpretation, response, and remediation of findings.
  • Partner with the Bank Partnership Compliance team to design, maintain, and socialize consistent documentation of the Financial Crimes program within Block’s Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) operating model.
  • Define Financial Crimes compliance risk appetite statements and assessment criteria.
  • Provide strategic advisory on enterprise-wide BSA/AML risk assessments, regulatory escalations, and the evaluation of new business initiatives for financial crimes risk implications.
  • Assess the effectiveness of enterprise risk management practices and lead remediation strategies to close regulatory gaps and strengthen organizational controls.
You Have
  • 10+ years of experience in BSA/AML policy, compliance, or regulatory advisory roles within financial institutions or consulting.
  • Proven experience developing and managing large scale Financial Crimes programs applied to modern product and modeling practices
  • Strong knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, FFIEC Examination Manual and/or BSA/AML Exam Manual for MSBs, and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear, quantitative standards and operational controls
  • Familiarity with contemporary technological approaches for compliance policy management and comfort working directly with technical teams to design requirement documents
  • Experience embedding compliance controls into development pipelines and monitoring frameworks, making them consistent, repeatable, and auditable
  • Ability to influence others and gain support around compliance goals
  • Ability to work with team members of all levels
