Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment. The blocks that form our foundational teams — People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more — provide support and guidance at the corporate level. They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block.

The Role

At Block, we’re building products that expand access to financial services while maintaining strong consumer protections. The Consumer Protection Compliance team partners across the organization to safeguard customers, strengthen trust, and support sustainable growth across our ecosystem. We are looking for a compliance professional with hands-on experience in consumer payment dispute management including Regulation E, Regulation Z, and network dispute processes to strengthen control design, customer communication standards, and overall program scalability.

You’ll bring a practical, risk-based mindset and a collaborative spirit, someone who partners seamlessly with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Operations teams to design and embed thoughtful controls that protect our customers.

You Will
  • Partner with Disputes and Risk Operations (including Disputes, ATO, Identity Verification, and Account Review teams) to identify compliance gaps, advise on control design, and enhance operational processes.
  • Apply expert knowledge of Regulation E, Regulation Z, and payment network rules to strengthen dispute workflows, customer communication strategies, and operational accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering partners to advise on dispute resolution, ensuring cohesive and compliant customer experiences.
  • Work cross-functionally with Legal, Risk, and Customer Operations to resolve complex operational or regulatory issues related to consumer access, disputes, and fraud.
  • Partner closely with the Disputes Compliance Lead in maturing the end-to-end disputes compliance program providing subject matter expertise, operational insights, and regulatory guidance to strengthen Block’s dispute management practices.
  • Identify and assess product control gaps, evaluate remediation plans, and drive sustainable solutions that align with Block’s compliance standards.
  • Build and maintain an inventory of risks and controls, and provide second-line oversight to dispute and access management processes.
  • Ensure coordination and alignment with global compliance programs, maintaining consistency and transparency across regions.
  • Stay up to date with evolving consumer protection laws, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices to anticipate and manage emerging risks.
You Have
  • 6+ years of compliance experience in payments, fintech, or financial services, with expertise in consumer protection, AML, and regulatory frameworks such as EFTA, BSA, and network rules.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and operationalize compliance programs that balance innovation with control rigor.
  • Proven experience supporting product development and operational teams through clear, actionable compliance guidance.
  • A metrics- and data-driven approach to identifying issues and developing substantiated, risk-based solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of dispute management processes, access management, and account security controls.
  • The ability to influence and communicate effectively across all levels, from frontline operations to senior leadership.
  • A passion for building fair, transparent, and customer-centric financial products that empower economic participation.
