Builder Fellow, Design

A six-month, paid program for AI-native builders. Fellows join teams at Cash App, Square, Afterpay, TIDAL, Bitkey, and Proto to push how AI reshapes the way we design, build, and imagine new experiences.

This isn’t an internship — it’s a launchpad for builders. No degree or resume required. Just curiosity, initiative, and examples of what you’ve built.

As a Fellow, you will design interfaces that respond to models in real time, prototype AI-assisted workflows, or explore visual systems shaped by data and code. Some projects focus on creative tools, others on product experiences that reach millions of customers. You’ll work alongside designers, engineers — shaping how we design and build with AI and seeing your work ship at scale. Every fellowship may be different; your perspective helps define your placement and focus.

Fellows gain hands-on experience designing for real products used by millions of people around the world, with mentorship from the teams shaping Block’s AI strategy. You’ll experiment in the open — contributing to prototypes, open-source projects, and design systems that influence how our teams build with intelligence across Cash App, Square, Afterpay, TIDAL, Bitkey, and Proto.

This is an opportunity to learn how design operates at scale while staying close to the frontier of AI.

We don’t need a resume. Instead, share:

• Something you’ve built. A project, prototype, or experiment that shows how you use AI to make or explore ideas.
• What you want to learn. Tell us what excites you about building with AI and how this fellowship could help you grow.

• Start date: January 26, 2026
• Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of an extension or full-time offer
• Location: Fully remote, with one week of in-person onboarding in New York City
• Eligibility: Most fellows will be 18+, but we’ll consider 14+ based on local guidelines

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
